Camo Baby Afghan using Grit Stitch

on November 7, 2014

So, I made this baby blanket.  And it’s really cute.

I actually started this blanket back in July when we were at the hospital when Nate’s mom had her surgery.  We spent two very long days in the waiting room, and I had big plans to work on THIS blanket, but stupid me, I left the pattern back at the hotel.  So, I grabbed my camo yarn, pulled up THIS pattern on my phone, and started making squares.

If it looks familiar, it’s the same pattern that I used for Ainsley’s Daisy Afghan.  I ended up making about ten squares that day, before I ran out of camo yarn and started on another blanket (which I should probably share).  Well, when I started, I thought I would give this to Kolt Lee for his Christmas present!  But I have a different, way cooler pattern that I want to make for him.  So I finished this one and put it up for sale.

The finished afghan is about 36″ x 29″.  I used Red Heart brand yarn, and I went through 3 skeins (I think) of the camo, and just used a portion of a neon orange skein that I had. I love the grit stitch, as it makes a solid square that is really warm. The outside border is one SC round, then a DC round.  I will say that the Red Heart Yarn is kind of scratchy when you are done with it, and the blanket will be really stiff, but once you wash it (I even let mine soak in the washer for an hour or so), it is SO soft!  And it will just get softer everytime you wash it.

If you are interested in purchasing this adorable afghan- here is the listing.  If that one is sold, make sure you check out my shop, as I can make you another one!

Could you please tell me what size hook you used? I will be using RH Earth and Sky. Thank you!
